Preparing to Take Your Exam

  1. Log in to the CBTF Scheduler. You will need to add your course and make a reservation for your exam.

  2. Download the Zoom app on your phone or tablet (App Store | Google Play). Follow this guide to sign in with Illinois SSO.

  3. Please review Grainger Engineering’s Recommended Technology for Students. If you need assistance with acquiring needed technology, refer to this overview of the Technology Loan Program.

  4. Make a copy of the Exam Checklist to help you keep track of what you need to do.

  5. Plan your testing space. You’ll need the following:

    • a quiet space with good lighting and no other people. If this is impossible, let your proctor know at the beginning of the exam and refrain from talking with other people.
    • a place to put your phone/tablet far enough away from you to capture your face, screen, and work area in the same shot on Zoom. View our How to Position Your Phone guide for examples.
    • a phone/tablet stand
    • a phone/tablet charger
    • scratch paper
    • a calculator
  6. Attend CBTF office hours. If you have any questions or want help you can join and talk to a proctor during the following times:

  • Mon, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
  • Tue, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
  • Wed, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
  • Thu, 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm
  • Fri, 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
  • Sat, 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
